The Standard Energy Efficiency Data Platform™ (SEED Platform) is an open-source web application that provides public agencies and private organizations with a standardized but flexible enterprise data platform. This platform helps users manage portfolio scale building performance data securely and cost-effectively, using data from a variety of sources. SEED was developed by the US National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) with funding from the US Department of Energy (DOE). Work began in 2014, and NREL still has a full time team dedicated to updating and improving the tool.
OGBS started working to deliver a ‘Canadianized’ version of the SEED Platform on June 1, 2017. The main objective is to make the full scope of version 2.3 functionality seamlessly available to Canadian users. This includes retrofitting the database so the system can store and process metric units, adding French localization, and updating the property data configuration to account for the Canadian reality of postcode formats and tax lot to building number relationships.
Work continues on SEED to build out CRM, data visualization, and machine learning capabilities for the platform. Please contact us if you’d like to learn more.
